The KTM X-Bow is the motorcycle manufacturer's first foray into the realm of four-wheeled vehicles.
Pared down like a motorcyle, it is a car in its simplest form: four wheels, motor, controls, and a seat. It eschews such frivalties as a roof, windscreen, and even bodywork. Instead, air is managed by panels and various addendums, with mechanical bits instead becoming the focal point.
Powered by a 240 horsepower Audi turbo I4, the same minimalistic aesthetic and carbon fiber construction allow for low weight and a corresponding power to weight ratio that rivals a Ferrari. The X-Bow, quietly releasing its power like its namesake, will reach 60 in 3.8 seconds and in 8.5 seconds breach the 100 mph barrier.
The X-bow is said to move like a bike. Instantaneous responses and feelsome, the car will be available for purchase in Europe for 43,000 British pounds or over $85,870.
Our take? Very cool, and the use of a standard Audi motor ensures that the car is less damaging to the environment than the typical exotic car. Like the medieval weapon, it is simple, coiled, tension and energy. You respect the man (or woman) who wields it.
