Geneva Auto Show Dodge Hornet to be built by Nissan

Chrysler is looking to Nissan, with whom they've made an agreement to cooperate with, to build the Dodge Hornet at Nissan's Oppama, Japan factory.

Originally a concept car offering a sort of American interpretation of the MINI, the production model is set to developed off of the Nissan Versa compact platform. However, unlike the Versa, the Hornet is intended to be a premium small car offering ala MINI Cooper as opposed to another run-of-the-mill econobox.

The Dodge Hornet debuted at the 2006 Geneva Auto Show.

Our take? The Dodge Hornet is, politely, not the style icon that the MINI was, or currently is. It can however, become a force in the lower priced segments.

By the way, it's weird to think of Chrysler pairing no involving Mitsubishi
